Why practice yoga?
There are SO MANY reasons to practice yoga!
See the below list; maybe something will resonate with you!
Yoga improves your flexibility
Yoga helps with stress relief
It may help improve mental health. Both movement-based yoga therapies and breathing-based practices have been shown to significantly improve depressive symptoms
Yoga can improve self-esteem & help improve body image. Yoga also often connects people with a supportive community.
Yoga may reduce inflammation
Yoga will likely increase your strength
Yoga may reduce anxiety. There are a number of different anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, & specific phobias. Even chronic stress can sometimes be categorized as an anxiety disorder.
Numerous studies suggest that yoga asana (poses) may be effective as an alternative treatment for anxiety disorders, though several of the researchers request additional replicated studies before conclusively stating as much. Yoga nidra, which is a body scan/guided meditation, has been shown to conclusively reduce symptoms of anxiety.
Yoga can improve balance, boost immunity, & can improve cardiovascular function.
Flow Classes
Happy Hips & Hamstrings
Flow yoga is the general term given to any style of yoga asana in which the practitioner moves dynamically from one posture immediately into another, following the breath. This continuous flow of movement and breath generates a meditative state, encouraging practitioners to let go of thought and focus on experience of the present moment. In flow yoga, each movement into or out of a posture is timed with an inhalation or an exhalation in a choreographed sequence.
🕉️ Power flow is a stronger practice
🕉️ Rise & Shine & Fun Flows are lighthearted with upbeat music
🕉️Yoga Flow & Vinyasa are general flow classes
🕉️ Slow Flow moves more slowly & incorporates more Hatha yoga
This class focuses on lengthening the hamstrings and releasing the hips. Our hamstrings can get tight when we sit too much or when we overtrain the quadriceps. When this happens, the hamstrings begin to pull down on the sit bones, making the pelvis and hips tight and flattening the natural curvature in the low back.
Tune-up Balls
Sound Baths
Classes that include these balls are part massage and part yoga!
The “tune up” balls are designed to safely provide maximum benefits for your soft tissues and joints. They have enough density to penetrate through layers of skin and muscle to massage deeply into your high tension areas and provide targeted trigger point therapy, and enough “squish” to avoid damaging bony prominences and nerves.
Rolling teases apart the “sticky” or adhered parts of the tissues, thereby separating the individual fibers within the muscle so that each fiber can literally pull its own weight instead of its neighbors’. Your muscles are then able to fully contract and release as your movement dictates. the therapy balls help herd truly tissues into better alignment with your bones so that you move it efficiency and ease.
A relaxing soak in the tub isn’t the only kind of bath that can have health benefits!
Waves of soothing, echoing sound from traditional wind and percussion instruments, also known as a “sound bath,” may help with stress, fatigue, and depression symptoms, according to some studies. While the concept of a sound bath may seem new-age, the practice of healing bodies through sound is thousands of years old with deep roots in cultures across the world.
Yoga nidra is guided meditation rooted in ancient yogic traditions that follows a systematic relaxation process, putting us in a very relaxed state that is somewhere between being awake and asleep.
The mind remains awake and aware, open and receptive to the messages of healing and creativity shared during the meditation. This is powerful because the words, images, and suggestions of healing can sink deep into our consciousness and subconsciousness, resonating within.
In some ways, yoga nidra is similar to a hypnotic state, but it’s not quite the same thing. A 2022 study that examined participants' brain waves during yoga nidra sessions found that some parts of the brain were asleep, while other parts of the brain were awake.
It is believe that a yoga nidra session provides rest equivalent to that of an hours-long sleep.
